About the site:
All Sorts Of Fun offers free downloadable content for use in the computer
games The Sims and The Sims 2.
(For site policy and permissions, please see Policy/Terms of
Use below)
(For download information and where things go, please see About/Info
below)
All Sorts Of Fun was originally opened as -sofun-, but was moved and
renamed due to hosting issues.
The site owner also previously ran a site for The Sims called simoutlets,
which was hosted on various
free hosts for more than three years, at which point it was closed
due to problems with trying to run a
sims site on free hosting accounts. Some of the simoutlets content
(for the original The Sims game) has been
restored and is currently available here. All Sorts Of Fun is now operating
on a paid host account, which means
the site will be much more stable and will remain in one place.
I intend to keep downloadable content free
for as long as possible, but may have to make changes as I try
to cover the costs of running the site.
Any announcements will be made in the updates journal and changes will
be noted here as well.
If you like the content, please email us or post a note in the guestbook
to let us know!
Policy/Terms of Use:
Please read this entirely!
Guest Pages have their own terms of use, so please check those separately.
For the rest of the site, certain items may be used in your own
creations and uploaded to your own site
or to the exchange, although I do appreciate being given credit (Noel
of all sorts of fun) when possible.
A link to my site (http://www.allsortsoffun.com) is also appreciated,
but not required. This permission is only
given for sharing of files, which means you may NOT use any
of my items in something offered for any type of fee.
Please, no taking the zips and pics and uploading them as they are
- anywhere. And obviously, do NOT claim them as your own.
All items downloaded from this site are used AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Item Permissions:
You may use the following items in creating new sims and families to
share: genetics, makeup, hair, and clothing recolors.
For walls and floors, the policy is that you may use them to decorate
a house (or property) you are sharing with others,
either through a website, message board, or the exchange, as long as
the house/property is offered for FREE.
Please do not create a "property" consisting only of wall and floor
files.
Screenshots, stories, and movies may freely include any of our items,
of course.
If you have any questions, would like clarification, or would like
to use something
in a way that is not permitted here, please contact me via email.
Support the Site:
I intend to keep content free for as long as possible, however, in order
to do that,
it is necessary to ask site visitors to help support the site.
There are various ways to
support 'all sorts of fun', and not all require monetary contributions,
so please
check out the support page to learn how you can help keep 'all sorts
of fun' online...

About the game:
"In the The Sims™ 2, you direct your Sims over a lifetime and mix their
genes
from one generation to the next. You set your Sims' goals in life;
fame, fortune,
family, romance or knowledge. Give them a long, successful existence
or leave their lives
in shambles. Take them to extremes, from getting busted to seeing a
ghost, from marrying
an alien to writing a great novel. Unleash your creativity with the
all-new Create-A-Sim,
new building options, and the new in-game movie camera. Get ready to
mix their
genes, fulfill their dreams, and push them to extremes."

Game and/or Body Shop must not be running when installing files
other than files downloaded through the content browser from the exchange.
For files from this site, please note the following:
Lots/Houses, Walls & Floors, Individual Sims, and Genetics &
Makeup:
Download the .zip or .rar files to whichever folder you wish.
Unzip the files and double-click the .Sims2pack and .Sims2Skin files.
The package installer that comes with the game will automatically install
them.
If you download a .package file, you do not need to double-click it
to install, you
simply need to place the file in the appropriate folder for use in
the game and Body Shop.
Makeup, clothing, and genetics that are .package files should be placed
in the following folder:
My Documents\EA Games\The Sims2\TheSims2Bodyshop\Downloads
This content will be available for use in BodyShop and within the game.
You may create a sub-folder under your downloads folder for walls and/or
floors, but
this does NOT work for CAS/bodyshop content (skins, meshes, hair, genetics,
makeup, etc.).
Houses/Lots will appear in the Lots and Houses Bin when you start the
game,
and Sims will appear in the Create-a-Sim area. (Heads are found under
button 2.)
Neighborhoods:
Neighborhoods need to be placed in the following folder:
My Documents\EA Games\The Sims2\Neighborhoods
However, each neighborhood has its own folder. The name of the folder
is N and a 3-digit number
that identifies the neighborhood. If you already have a neighborhood
with that 3-digit number, you
will need to change the 3-digit number for the neighborhood you downloaded,
and you will need to make
sure that the number is changed for every part of the neighborhood
folder. Everything inside that contains
the identifying number must be changed to the new identifying number.
Terrains:
If you have downloaded a new terrain for use in creating your own neighborhoods,
place
the terrain in the following folder:
My Documents\EA Games\The Sims2\ SC4Terrains

From the nVidia website's glossary
Transform & Lighting (T&L) definition: Two separate engines
on the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) that provide
for a powerful, balanced PC platform and enable extremely high polygon
count scenes.
Transform performance determines how complex objects can be and how
many can appear
in a scene without sacrificing frame rate. Lighting techniques add
to a scene's realism
by changing the appearance of objects based on light sources.
Some other notes about video cards:
T&L video cards started shipping around 3 years ago, so if you
got your computer
in the last couple of years you should check and see if you have a
T&L card.
It's always a good idea to make sure you have the most current drivers
for your video cards.
The manufacturers usually have the video drivers on their sites for
you to download.
Visit the nVidia site or the ATI for the latest drivers for those video
cards.
